I realized today (for about the 1010th time) how much I cling to the past, and just how silly that is.
You are not the you from your teens or early 20s. You have grown. And so has everyone else. Your former friend is different. Your siblings are evolving. Your ex is not your ex anymore. They have an identity you cannot compare to a memory you have of them.
It’s important to stress that you have to think about the you that exists today and the you that might exist tomorrow. Look ahead to what you can do to improve your happiness. Or maintain it, if you’re truly happy with your position in the world.
