The Blonde One Was Called Freedom

The Thoughts in Their Heads Manifest On Their Brow Like Bad Scars From Ill Feelings

Why do we live in a world so full of judgment? Life would be more pleasant if we were kinder to ourselves and others. Yet here I sit judging myself. I have a tattoo that reminds me daily that my flaws help me grow, that my neighbors’ flaws make them unique and help them grow.

And I forget that all the time. People say we need judgment in the world and I suppose… yes. We need to make judgment on those who commit crimes, it’s what helps you determine what you find attractive, and it’s involved in making day-to-day choices. But let’s be honest, that’s not the kind of judgment we’re talking about.

There is an effort in our society for everyone to speak their mind freely, but that causes a lot of negativity being thrown around. And where do we draw the line? Not everyone likes a frank answer. Not everyone needs your opinion. The whole “sticks and stones” mantra isn’t very accurate. In the very apt words of Eminem (Yep. I’m quoting Eminem.):

I guess words are a mothafucka they can be great
Or they can degrade, or even worse they can teach hate

Sometimes our judgments do little else but bring self-loathing on people, and spark our own intolerance of everyone and everything around us. I guess I feel if we can’t stop judging so often (and harshly) we should consider practicing more tolerance and acceptance.

There’s a shortage of that in today’s world.
